Contract: Temporary

Make a real difference in Westminster.
Westminster City Council's Housing Services are high profile and vital to maintaining and enhancing the Council's reputation. We are currently seeking a Temporary Lettings Officer to join our dedicated Housing Management team and help us deliver a responsive, high-quality lettings service to residents across the borough.
About the Role
As a Lettings Officer, you will be responsible for managing the entire lettings process - from the point a tenant gives notice to the successful sign-up of the new resident. This is a key role in reducing void turnaround times, minimizing rent loss, and ensuring new tenants are welcomed into safe, well-maintained homes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing all housing management phases of the voids and lettings process.
Working closely with the Allocations Team, Voids Team, and contractors to achieve turnaround targets.
Conducting pre-inspections, accompanied viewings, and tenancy sign-ups (in-person and virtual).
Providing information on tenancy rights and responsibilities, property condition standards, and the allocations process.
Offering a customer-focused, "estate agency" style approach to viewings, promoting the benefits of each property.
Ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting of lettings activity.
Supporting residents with advice on moving, tenancy obligations, and general housing queries.
Attending evictions and arranging follow-up actions as required.
Providing excellent customer service and responding to enquiries within agreed timeframes.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a passion for customer service and a strong team ethic. Ideally, you will have:
Experience in a lettings role or similar housing function (desirable).
Experience working with the public or in a customer service environment (essential).
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
The ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, front-line service.
Familiarity with IT systems and accurate record-keeping.
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
Awareness of equality and diversity principles in service delivery.
