We have a great opportunity for an individual to join us and undertake academic, practical, and professional training to become a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer and work as an apprentice to gain experience across all core areas of environmental health practice.

You will be expected to study for your Level 6 Environmental Health Bachelor of Science degree course alongside your day-to-day role; for which you will be given study time during your working hours.

As an apprentice, you'll work across a broad range of environmental health areas including Housing Standards, Food Safety and Licensing, Community and Environmental Protection, and Public Health. On successful completion of the programme, you'll achieve professional status as an Environmental Health Practitioner, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

Working under the supervision of experienced council officers throughout the apprenticeship, you will apply learning to real situations and contribute to protecting and promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing, of local people, communities and the environment.

The successful applicant will be good at managing their time to meet deadlines and an ability to communicate effectively with a range of people. You will be able to monitor and manage performance to achieve objectives. You will also need to meet the minimum entry requirements for this apprenticeship with the University of Middlesex.

Minimum entry requirements for apprenticeships in England include:

English and maths at Level 2 (GCSE 4 and above / A-C). If you have not previously achieved these grades, or if you are unable to provide evidence of the qualifications, then you may need to complete these qualifications during your apprenticeship training.

Educated to A level or equivalent in scientific subjects meeting the entrance requirements for Middlesex University's Environmental Health Apprenticeship BSc (Honours).

As this is a Level 6 Environmental Health Officer degree apprenticeship, you should not already possess substantial skills or qualifications of the same level or higher, in this subject.

You must be a citizen of the UK or European Economic Area (EEA), or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past 3 consecutive years and have a Right to work in the UK.
