A top 60 accountancy firm is seeking an experienced and ambitious Private Client Tax professional to their its Ipswich office as a Senior Manager. The successful candidate will join a thriving Private Client Tax team. With a 50/50 split between compliance and advisory work, the role is ideal for a current Senior Manager or a highly experienced Manager ready to take the next step.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of private clients, including high-net-worth individuals, business owners, landowners, and family trusts and estates.
  • Review self-assessment tax returns and ensure high-quality, compliant output from junior team members.
  • Provide technical guidance on personal tax issues including Capital Gains Tax planning, Remuneration planning, IR35 matters, Trusts and Inheritance Tax, Property income.
  • Advise on complex tax matters, including residence issues, emigration/immigration, property development, and landed estates.
  • Contribute to business development activities and promote the firm's services externally.
  • Collaborate with the wider tax and advisory team on cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Participate in budgeting and billing processes.
  • Provide mentoring and training to junior team members.

Personal Requirements

  • CTA qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • Proven experience managing private client portfolios in a professional services setting.
  • Strong knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory work.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly and accessibly.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing positively to team development.
  • High ICT literacy, with experience using MS Office and tax software (CCH experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience reviewing work of junior staff and providing constructive feedback.
  • Willing to travel occasionally within East Anglia and undertake overnight stays as needed.
