Job Summary:

CAFCASS is seeking an experienced Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join their Public Law team covering the Kent and Maidstone area. This role is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to contribute to life-changing decisions for children involved in family court proceedings.

This position involves undertaking sensitive and complex assessments, making recommendations to the family courts, and championing the voice of the child in all proceedings.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertaking assessments under Section 31 care proceedings

  • Preparing high-quality, evidence-based reports for court

  • Representing the child's best interests throughout legal proceedings

  • Engaging directly with children and families to understand their circumstances

  • Collaborating with legal professionals, social workers, and other key stakeholders

  • Ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation and CAFCASS standards

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

  • Experience in court-related work, ideally within CAFCASS or statutory children's services

  • In-depth understanding of Public Law, child protection, and care proceedings

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage a complex caseload

  • Ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid capacity
