About the Role:

Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking an experienced and passionate Supervising Social Worker to join their Fostering Team. This role involves offering effective, child-centred support and intervention to ensure children in need are safeguarded, cared for, and enabled to thrive in a stable environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and effective social work intervention to safeguard and promote child welfare

  • Address the needs of children with disabilities, supporting them to live as normal a life as possible

  • Ensure permanency planning is timely and aligned with the child's needs

  • Champion a child-centred approach in assessment, planning, and reviews

  • Offer professional leadership across multi-agency teams

  • Build trust-based relationships with parents and carers, encouraging safe and nurturing parenting

  • Support foster carers, special guardians, and prospective adopters to meet children's needs

  • Ensure children understand their journey, are progressing in health and education, and are prepared for adulthood

Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration

  • Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience in fostering or children's services

  • Strong understanding of permanency planning, safeguarding, and child development

  • Excellent skills in communication, multi-agency collaboration, and case management

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive, high-performing team
