Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting an experienced Children's Social Worker to join their 0-25 CWD CLA Team, supporting Children Looked After with diagnosed disabilities.

Based at Apsley 2, Hemel Hempstead, this is a vital frontline role where you will carry a full CLA caseload, attend reviews, visits, and meetings, and work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key Role Highlights:
  • Work with CLA children with diagnosed disabilities

  • Manage full caseloads and carry out all statutory CLA duties

  • Conduct reviews, planning meetings, and out-of-county visits

  • Collaborate across agencies, schools, and health professionals

  • Operate in a well-supported, structured team environment

Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead on statutory CLA reviews, visits, and assessments

  • Prepare and contribute to care plans, placement updates, and LAC reviews

  • Represent the local authority in multi-agency and out-of-area meetings

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and their families

  • Maintain up-to-date, legally compliant records

  • Advocate for the best outcomes, including for children with complex disabilities

Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience (PQE)

  • Strong assessment, safeguarding, and court experience

  • Knowledge of Children Looked After frameworks and disability services

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Able to work collaboratively and travel for out-of-county duties
