We have an excellent opportunity for a Construction Manager to join our team delivering our HMP Glasgow project. 

 

HMP Glasgow is a flagship project for Kier Strategic Projects , delivering a £750M new build custodial facility North East of Glasgow city.  The construction manager will take lead on the delivery of the front of house building element of the campus overseeing a £50M + steel frame building housing all front of house and office facilities for the prison.

 

Location: Glasgow, Scotland 

 

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday 

 

What will you be responsible for?

 

  • To lead and oversee the successful delivery of high value, technically complex commercial building that makes up a major element of the overall campus.
  • To drive assigned project achieving completion, on time and on budget in a safe and quality by empowering and guiding site team to perform.
  • To take overall responsibility for application of Kier's SHE policies and procedures ensuring that all employees and subcontractors on site comply.
  • To act as mentor, line manager and escalations point for site team, share knowledge and experience to help develop others.
  • To report directly to the Phase lead ensuring regular updates on progress and addressing any emerging challenges through collaboration.
  • Promote Kier's values  towards our supply chain and customers in order to exceed expectations and support them in achieving industry leading results.

 

Your day to day will include:

 

  • Lead on site delivery of the front of house building from pre construction through to handover, overseeing site manager and supervisors.
  • Take responsibility for work progressing  safely and in line with Kier and client quality expectations.
  • Ensure that detailed plans are developed commensurate with the overall project plan in order that material/resources/supply chain can be manages to ensure work front performance.
  • Manage the supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost, quality, safety and sustainability requirements in line with Kier standards
  • Ensure that works comply with the Business Management System.
  • Ensure that effective records are maintained and kept for project delivery
  • Be an ambassador of the Kier values with a relentless focus on safety and quality 

 

What are we looking for?

 

This role of Construction Manager is great for you if:

 

  • You have significant experience gained within the main contracting environment  in driving delivery on construction projects of significant value ( £40M +)
  • You hold relevant Construction Qualification Degree level or equivalent
  • Have or are working toward membership / accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g. CIOB/ICE)
  • Are IT literate including Word, Excel, ASTA Power Project or Microsoft Project.
  • Hold 5-day SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid Cert and Full UK Driving Licence.
