Veterinary Surgeon

Ref: vets4pets-47660
Vets for Pets
Veterinary & Animal Care
£40000 - £50000 GBP Salaried

Are you an experienced Vet who is looking for the next step in their career and looking to share your knowledge with those just starting in the Vet world? If so, we have a new opportunity at our Bishopbriggs Vets for Pets practice!

The practice is located to the North of the town and only a 20-minute drive North of the city centre of Glasgow. The international airport in Glasgow is within a 30-minute drive of the practice which makes it the ideal location for international vets returning home for holidays or is an easy gateway for a city break in Europe during your time off.

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who ideally has 2+ years’ experience working in Small Animal practice and has solid surgical skills. However, we’re also open to applications from recent graduates. This position will be fully supported by our Practice Director who has over 21 years clinical experience and has run the practice since it opened in 2011.

Our team is currently made up of 3 FT vets, 3 FT RVNs, 1 SVN, 1 Practice Manager and 3 receptionists, which we find is the perfect balance for ensuring you always get breaks and time in the diary to catch up on admin. Ideally we are looking for a full time Vet working around 35 hours per week, with 1 in 3 Saturdays, however we are open to discuss around the hours should you be interested in a part time opportunity.

At Bishopbriggs Vets for Pets we are an RCVS PSS (and have been for the past 13 years), an RVN training practice, a Silver Cat Friendly practice and we are currently working towards the Investors in Environment Bronze award. To support all of this we have excellent facilities and equipment within the practice which includes a full in-house Lab (Lasercyte and Catalyst), an oxygen chamber, ultrasound, digital x-ray, Tonometer, multiparameter monitors and many more. We are very excited about adding a dental xray to our services in the coming months.

We work on 15-minute appointments for routine consults,  with the option of 30 minute appointments for more complex cases as well as euthanasia appointments. There is  regular time blocked out to catch up on paperwork, in addition we also set aside time for lab results, repeat prescriptions and vet discharge appointments to ensure that you never get behind and can leave on time at the end of your shift as we value your personal life outside of work. Our fantastic nurses also conduct daily consults in practice to assist the vets including 2nd vaccinations, patient discharges, microchips, bandage checks just to name a few.

As well as a great practice and team environment, we also provide additional benefits including a paid one-hour lunch break, access to a colleague food pantry, an extra day off for your birthday, private healthcare contribution, and a live app to track your rota and holidays. Depending on your experience level we are offering a salary in the region of £40-52k per annum.

If you would like to find out more information about the position or to have a no strings attached conversation, please reach out to Chris at [email protected]

Location: G64 2TS

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
