We're looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team based the Thames Valley region. 

 

Location: Flexible within the Thames Valley region, Reading to Oxford 

Hours: 45 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

 

In this role, you will be working on the Thames Water framework who deliver multiple projects across their operating area on both clean and dirty water sites. These projects are part of Thames Water regulatory commitments to improve effluent quality and are part of the AMP8 spending period. This role will mainly be supporting projects in the Thames Valley and Oxford areas. 

 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Environmental Advisor, you will oversee complex environmental matters and drive sustainability. The role will provide  technical advice to the project team on all aspects of environmental management and ensure environmental compliance. The role will also help promote and drive the NRNN Sustainability Action Plan as well as establishing and delivering project and framework based targets both from an environmental and social sustainability perspective. You will report into the Water Business Unit Senior Environmental Manager.

Your day to day will include:

  • Ensures effective implementation and reporting of our environmental monitoring regime and audit programme, and works to share best practice within the project, the EA Framework and the wider Kier business.
  • Conduct reviews method statements and associated documents to ensure environmental compliance, and collect and reports environmental sustainability data and ensures input into the Kier current reporting tools e.g. Rio.
  • Liaise with client, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability.
  • Provides on-site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance, and project specific mitigation measures and complete audits and inspections, ensuring implementation of the Kier environmental management system on the project.
  • Investigates environmental incidents and supports the Kier business to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence.

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Environmental Advisor is great for you if you hold:

  • Demonstrable experience in environmental management and sustainability on infrastructure or construction projects
  • Environmental related degree. 
  • Member of a professional body such as IEMA, CIWEM, CIWM etc.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities. 
  • Experience working under an environmental permit, marine licence or other consents. 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and BREEAM
  • Full driving licence
