Looking to get involved in one of the largest construction projects going on in the South West?

We're currently looking to recruit for a Project Health & Safety Manager in Newton Abbot, South Devon working on expanding HMP Channings Wood.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a project of varying scope to deliver state-of-the-art construction including two new fully electric, energy efficient T60 houseblocks as well as a number of ancillary works.

 

Location: Newton Abbot, South Devon, South West

 

Contract: Permanent, full-time

 

What will you be responsible for?

This role provides Health, Safety, and Wellbeing leadership for our HMP Channings Wood project. The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager will be the point of contact and conduit for HMP Channing Wood Project team and the Kier Construction Western & Wales Construction & Engineering Director & Regional HS&W Manager.

Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

· Provides the point of contact and conduit for the HMP Channings Wood Team and the Kier Constr5uction Western & Wales Construction & Engineering Director & Regional HS&W Manager

· Further develop and maintain the projects HSW strategy in line with Business and project specific plans

· Cascades regional HSW communications, safety reports, lessons learned, dissemination of Kier Construction and Kier Group information to the HMP Channings Wood team through established briefings and HSW meetings

· Maintains and chairs fortnightly HMP Channings Wood Project Leads HSW meeting to ensure coordination and communication of key HSW information on to both site teams and supply chain feeding back areas requiring improvement and sharing good practice. Ensuring attendance is achieved and that key messages are briefed on with actions implemented across the project

· Conduct Site Safety Inspections (SSI) and Advice & Guidance, recording using Novade in line with Kier targets

· Undertake regular reviews on SSI corrective action status and ensure actions are closed in a timely manner

· Advise teams in developing specialist trade risk assessments, safe systems of works & checking method statements at HMP Channings Wood

· Update Regional SHE Manager & Kier Construction Western & Wales Construction & Engineering Director and HMP Project Directors on HSW issues regularly and immediately following any incidents or enforcing authority communication

What are we looking for?

This role of Health & Safety Manager is great for you if you have:

· NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent): A recognized qualification in occupational health and safety is essential

· Proven Experience: Significant experience in leading construction H&S on a major Tier one contract in a senior management role, delivering strategy and meeting objectives

· Strong Leadership and Communication: Ability to influence stakeholders, communicate effectively, and motivate staff & contractors

· Personal: Be self-motivated, strong presentation skills, work collaboratively to deliver results through influencing and negotiation

· Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of H&S legislation, regulations, and best practices

· Analytical and Problem-Solving: Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, develop and communicate effective solutions

· Project Management: Experience in managing HSW aspects of a major tier one construction project.

· Culture & behaviour: Experience with Behavioural change in H&S and implementation of behavioural management programmes
