Due to the mobilisation of a new contract, a great opportunity has become available for an Technical Services Manager to join a first-generation outsourcing account's site in Plymouth. To be successful in this role, you would have a trade background, proven experience managing direct and subcontracted labour, excellent leadership skills and financial acumen. You will be providing functional Technical Services support to the site, ensuring that Technical Services are being delivered in a safe, compliant, diligent and cost-effective manner.,

  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance with policies, systems and procedures in place for- + Standard Operating Practices + Risk assessments + Safe systems of work + Control of contractors + Site induction program + Toolbox talks + Permit to work systems + Carry out regular Safety walks as directed by the FM

  • Ensure adequate control and monitoring is applied to all finance activities undertaken.

  • Ensure consistency in process and procedures deployed in operational delivery of services across the site/contracts.

  • Responsibility for writing / reviewing of building SOP's in conjunction with Sodexo Compliance teams

  • To represent Sodexo on technical questions from both internal and external auditors

  • Ensure statutory and mandatory (contractually) compliance.

  • Ensure that all services within the scope of the role are adequately resourced, and the required infrastructure is in place in order to manage the service, track cost and value, and to ensure that contract level information has the granularity required to make well informed decisions.

  • Ensure that all services costs are correctly applied and charged according to the terms of an applicable contract. Obtain prior approval for expenditure to be committed that falls outside the agreed delegated powers and recouped within the same Financial Month from the client.

  • Ensure all Job orders are completed and updated.

  • Ensure that processes are in place for the timely and efficient delivery of all services in the specified contract Key Performance Indicator's and Service Level Agreements including Job Orders and Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks being completed and updated.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant sections Quality, Environment, Safety & Health Dept, supplying documentation in compliance with all regulatory, client and Sodexo audits when required to do so, including Environmental, Local Government, Sodexo Safeguard, ISO and Value for Money (VFM) Audits.

  • Ensure systems are in place to assure that all equipment used by the service delivery team and the overall establishment, is always safe and secure. Ensuring that all reporting staff are suitably trained and fully aware of Sodexo and Client H&S Systems.

  • To provide technical support to colleagues and subordinates.

Candidate Description


  • IOSH Certificate in Managing Safely

  • High level of practical knowledge of relevant employment, Health and Safety and general legislative requirements

  • Experienced at a professional level with a proven track record of building services management and building asset (plant and equipment) operations in a complex building services environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to all levels within the Sodexo

  • Proven experience of managing employees within a service environment and maximising the performance of their team. Experience of direct labour management of subcontracting staff.

  • Minimum of ONC/HNC Qualification and demonstrable experience in a trade discipline

  • Computer literate

  • Numerate and Literate with developed communication skills

  • Flexible with the ability to work under pressure whilst looking for continual improvements to service delivery

  • Ability to grasp requirements effectively and to relate to the service provisions of the Contract.

  • Commercially and financially astute.

  • Have held an Authorised Person (Trade Discipline Specific)

  • Professional Institute member

  • Certification in Risk Assessment

  • ISO Standards Internal Auditor

  • Management of Legionella, Water Quality Management
