The role will join our Future In-Store team and work on designing what the future of shopping looks like. With a service design thinking, strong UI skills and an appreciation for ergonomics, you will be covering the re-design of our self-checkout interfaces, a highly used digital touch point, with further integration of Nectar, our loyalty program. You will be involved in taking Luna (our design system) to the next level through in-store touch screen experiences as well as thinking about the wider customer experience within in-store.

You will be working with engineers and product as well as spending time in store with our staff and will get the support of other designers to coordinate the full user experience within a physical shopping environment - looking for improvements and the alleviation of pain points at every stage.

About you:

You want to work as a team:

You embrace difference. You work with and learn from others in order to succeed. You build trust from your colleagues through your behaviour and place your trust in others to do their jobs., You are brave, willing to try new things and do whatever we need to make the difference as quickly as we can.

Employer Description

The big question: why on earth should a Digital professional like you work for a 150-year-old retail chain? Because we're on a journey. Changing the way we operate. Learning to think nimble. Giving our teams the time and freedom they need to push boundaries within an ever-changing, ever-accelerating digital landscape, where we're always testing, experimenting, and learning. Digital is at the heart of everything we do. Welcome to the home of Sainsbury's Digital.

Experience is at the heart of everything we do. And it has to be. We're a multi-brand, multi-channel business with 27 million customers, the UK's largest loyalty scheme, a team of 160,000 colleagues and even a bank.

That's some challenge, but that's why we get out of bed every morning. We don't want to rest on our laurels, and our vision is to be the most trusted retailer where people love to work and shop.

This is where you come in. Join us and you'll solve customer problems and create experiences that shape the way the nation shops and works. You could find yourself designing in-store and ecommerce journeys for Sainsbury's Groceries, defining digital loyalty for Nectar or designing new financial services for Argos. And that's just to name a few.

Why Experience Design?

Based in our new digital hub, our team works in an agile, collaborative environment to drive the product direction and strategy of the entire business. Taking a test, experiment and learn approach, our experience design team makes decisions every day that impact millions of customers.

We're already a large team of designers, researchers and writers that create brilliant experiences for customers, colleagues and suppliers, but we're looking to grow even more.
