This role will be remote based for a duration of six months. Core Responsibilities:
Deliver Head of Profession (capability) Plan activity by working with the Commercial Director and Head of Commercial Capability to set the commercial capability strategy for the Health Family and oversee implementation and delivery of all supporting action plans.
Identify the development needs of our people; to obtain, create and promote learning which addresses their needs and helps to progress their careers;
Share capability, learning and development best practice across the Department, its ALBs and to the wider NHS. This will help to achieve shared ambitions of enhancing the skills, knowledge and available of Commercial experts across the whole health system.
Collaborate with Director Generals (DG) and Directors to ensures their teams understand commercial's role and commercial expectations of their groups.
Create annual communication plans including regular marketing and promotion of the Commercial Function across the DHSC via blogs, newsletters, inclusion in induction processes to build the awareness of all our people about the role of the Commercial Function, Divisions and teams within it.
Design, implement and embed a protype Departmental bi-annual capability assurance process to ensure DGs can assess their teams have the appropriate levels of commercial capability in place to undertake their roles.
Design and creation of a Commercial Academy Learning Digital Platform to house all commercial learning materials, guidance and communications.
Joint working with each commercial subject matter expert within the Commercial Directorate and wider Commercial Group (e.g. policy, procurement, contract management, supplier relationship management, other DDs or nominated reps) to map learning development requirements of each of the roles within their teams and ensure regular learning contributions to the commercial academy are received to address these needs.
Ensure the Commercial Academy is maintained to include up to date learning materials. The library of materials is expanded as and when learning materials, are digitised/recorded to be available 24/7.
Collaborate with profession leads and commercial colleagues in other government departments, ALBs, Cabinet Office. To share best practice and continuously improve engagement strategies, the Commercial Academy, access to services and learning materials available.
Build the commercial capability of AO-SEO grades within the commercial function by designing and delivering training that will prepare future talent for the Commercial ADC process and provide a learning offer which is equivalent to that offered to G7 and above.
Identify the development needs of our people; to obtain, create and promote learning which addresses their needs and helps to progress their careers.
Leading ad-hoc capability workstream or project activity as allocated by the Head of Commercial Capability to achieve strategic capability objectives defined in Business Plans.
