Job Description

To be a trusted strategic learning consultant, working in partnership with the Business Leaders, Centres of Excellence and

other key stakeholders, to deliver commercial value to the business unit by creating and delivering learning and

development plans which underpin the Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Plans (OGSP) and build a culture of engagement.,

  • Using a consultative approach with business leaders, HR colleagues and stake holders to identify and analyse

  • learning needs and develop appropriate learning plans that underpin the HR people plans for the business area

  • A key member of the L&D team, working collaboratively, sharing best practice with peers and ensuring consistent

  • delivery of the L&D agenda across all business areas

  • A key member of the BU/regional leadership team driving business performance through the people agenda

  • To be the first point of contact for the business helping them to understand, identify, assess and facilitate learning

  • whilst driving clear measurable business impact.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to key stake holders on all learning and development related activity

  • Project manage the development of new learning offerings, including initial project scope, solution design,

  • implementation, communication and engagement. Working alongside the L&D specialist teams

  • Lead the development and collation of training needs analysis and ensure appropriate development interventions

  • are available to the business

  • Supporting the Talent and Performance processes with in the business unit, ensuring key activities are carried out

  • and follow up actions implemented both for the wider BU and for individuals

  • Ensure the optimisation of the apprenticeship levy and the delivery of the funded learning strategy, including

  • identifying suitable opportunities for upskilling

  • Having a communications campaign that regularly promotes the Mitie L&D offering to the BU, ensuring The HR

  • team and wider population are aware of and engaged in the offer

  • Lead, motivate and engage the BU Learning teams to shape quarterly training delivery plans, in line with BAU

  • business requirements

  • Manage the training delivery team and training delivery schedule to ensure workshops are delivered in line with

  • contractual and operational requirements

  • Help to drive business compliance, ensuring a safe and compliant business in accordance with regulations

  • Role model behaviours to champion the one Mitie culture,

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;

    Information Security

  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;

  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;

  • Report actual and suspected security incidents

Candidate Description

Knowledge & experience


  • Experience of managing and driving Learning initiatives in a fast-paced, complex environment

  • Broad experience in all aspects of an L&D Business Partnering including operational training delivery, training

  • needs analysis, talent, succession planning, Apprentiship Levy management, strategc planning

  • Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills both internally and client facing

  • Ability to multi task, work well under pressure and ability to us own initiative.

  • Experience of managing an L&D team


  • CIPD qualified or equivalent

  • Ability to operate at graduate level

  • A growth mindset and passion for people development

  • An awareness of external learning trends and practices
