This role is a unique opportunity to work with the Retail Director to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve our retail excellence goals in line with the One UK Strategy and objectives in our racecourse portfolio. This will include the introduction of Smart Retail and OMNI opportunities to the estate. This role is home based, with regular travel to UK based racecourses, William Hill shops, and occasional office visits to Leeds and London.

Your role in the team
Working with the Finance team, you'll create an accurate P&L account for each racecourse so we can effectively manage the business. You will influence and support the strategic direction of the racecourse business and manage profit and loss, budgets, sales forecasting and various other key performance indicators for the racecourses. You'll need to have experience working with P&L, delivering budget and revenue growth targets and will support us in grabbing market share by proving ourselves competitively. You'll work with the finance and business support managers to create achievable colleague establishments for racecourses attached to the relevant region and make sure that we are effectively resourcing these vs establishments.
We'll need you to pro-actively gather and analyse data to maximize profitability, exceed targets and complete effective business reviews and course visits with the racecourse Area Managers & Business Performance (Cluster) Managers. You will lead, motivate and develop a team of BPMs (with support from their local AMs) to achieve trading profit targets for the racecourses through the delivery of outstanding customer service and operational excellence in a compliant environment. We'll rely on you to create a positive and engaged working environment for your racecourse shop teams and set clear expectations for service, standards and operations.
As a personal license holder you will ensure your racecourses deliver a fully compliant environment with all colleagues complying with the 3 Gambling Commission Licensing Objectives. You will also ensure that the AMs support the BPMs in thoroughly completing their regulatory audit requirements.

Customers: you will have a passion for delivering next-level service, supporting further business growth and managing a large number and variety of racecourses and shop types
You'll need to being us proven capabilities in retail management at a senior level, and significant operational experience in a fast paced, ever changing environment. Extensive experience in a customer orientated, retailing environment would set you up well for success in this role. You must be quick thinking and decisive, with the ability to rapidly build relationships and to work in collaboration with other teams and functions.
