Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre is a residential centre that houses up to 410 Detainees who are awaiting the outcome of their immigration status. We have an exciting opportunity for an Education/Teacher to join us and be a key member of the team.
The key purpose of the role is to co-ordinate and deliver a purposeful and inclusive education programme that caters for and represents the diverse range of residents in the Centre. You will assist in the creation, planning and delivery of an agreed programme of education and training activities. You'll be preparing lesson plans and will establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with departmental members and line managers.
You will facilitate, develop, trial and evaluate academic, occupational and life skills learning for Residents. You will plan and organise all educational activities, mentor, support and assist other Activity posts and maintain high quality auditable lesson plans and evidence Individual Learning Plans.
Previous practical knowledge of working in a teaching or training environment is required.
PGCE/QTS Level 3 or above in Education and Training is desirable with a TEFL/ ESOL/ CELTA qualification to teach English as a second language as a minimum requirement.
As a Tutor you'll have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You need to be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills with a win-win approach to collaboration, relationship and team building.
The post requires day, evening and weekend working so a flexible approach to working hours is required along with the ability to:

Lastly, because of the nature of our work you'll need to be able to pass a full security and vetting clearance process.
