The Transport Lead Consultant will report to the Head of Transport Consulting, while working closely with the other Plan Zero Consulting teams, which provide broader sustainability and green energy advisory services to our customers. You will be expected to deliver billable consultancy services to new and existing customers, leading teams of analysts, associates and consultants as required by specific engagements. From a future mobility and transport perspective, the work will focus on delivering advisory services that are aligned with the target segments and value proposition that the e-Mobility and EV Solutions team is selling to clients. Typical advice you would be providing our clients includes:
Defining high level fleet transition strategies taking in consideration our customers' fleet size, vehicle types, vehicle use cases and charging requirements
Educating customers on the implications of transitioning to EVs, including potential high-level impacts on business operations
Outlining potential options for EV charging solutions to customers, including rationale for selecting each, and considering charger type and speed, back-office software solutions, billing and payment options as well as roaming opportunities
Communicating the implications of electrifying their fleets on the broader decarbonisation agendas, including consideration of green power to supply charge points, potential deployment of behind the meter storage and/or on-site generation to provide a comprehensive view of net zero activities to customers
Identifying innovative and tailored solutions to support our clients' fleet decarbonisation ambitions
As part of your role, and as a subject matter expert in future mobility, you will be:
Leading the design and delivery of transport consultancy engagements for clients, taking ownership of end-to-end deliverables
Leading and managing teams of junior consultants to deliver projects
Building close relationships with clients and become a 'go-to' contact for sustainable transport related queries
Maintaining a balanced pipeline of engagements and business development opportunities which align with the team business plan
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Mitie to educate them on the topic and what this means for our clients
In addition to transport decarbonisation support, our 'Plan Zero' initiative provides further opportunity to deliver net zero pathways and create low carbon transition plans for clients. As a result, further duties include, identifying solutions that could enhance our sustainable objectives, developing costed proposals and helping to create new business opportunities within the Mitie client base.
This role requires experience in sustainability and transport, as well as knowledge of energy and carbon reduction strategies supporting net zero decarbonisation plans. The role will be responsible for delivering on proposals that provide a clear pathway to invest in projects to enable the electrification of fleets and transport operations, enabling our clients to go harder and faster in their carbon reduction ambitions. Commercial acumen and programme management will be key attributes for the role.
It will be important to establish a long-term trusted adviser relationship and communicate with business decision makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements. The role may require managing and mentoring staff within the project delivery teams to aid their personal development. Awareness of health, safety, and sustainability in all aspects of design and operations is essential.
Who will you work with?
The Plan Zero Consultancy and e-Mobility and EV solutions teams are part of Mitie Energy, the team within Mitie that is driving the sustainability and decarbonisation agendas of our customers. The role will play a pivotal role in driving sales and landing projects that support our clients with the design, delivery, operations and maintenance of future EV infrastructure. You will work closely with the client and business development teams, ensuring early access to client conversations and early identification of client issues and challenges.
Working closely with the other Plan Zero Consultancy teams will allow us to take a holistic view to clients, which considers all elements of their emission, including their built estate, energy procurement, waste operations and biodiversity considerations.

Plan Zero Consulting leadership team to bring comprehensive a decarbonisation view to customers
Head of e-Mobility to support in continuously refining our value proposition to customers
e-Mobility client and business development teams to have early sight of opportunities
Mitie existing customers to discuss and deliver transport decarbonisation opportunities
Internal stakeholders including Account Managers, Technical Managers and Operations teams to educate on the future of mobility and our role within this space
University degree in a relevant field (preferably Masters),
Experience of working with clients and having a strong understanding of the issues facing the mobility sector
Clear understanding of implications of electrification of transport, including different options available, timing considerations as well as key challenges
Independent thinker, with good customer facing skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and with major clients
Ability to lead engagements and client conversations with limited oversight
Excellent English written and oral communication skills
Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with sound commercial acumen
Ability to review and assess large volumes of technical data and distil the key strategic insights
Excellent IT skills in particularly sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point)
