Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic and suitably skilled individuals to join the team as Trading Standards Officers. We are looking to recruit those with a flair for finding non-compliance and a determination to resolve issues. The post holders will undertake work aimed primarily at investigating complaints, conducting requests for advice from local businesses and the inspection of businesses involved in the sale of food. Occasional weights and measures related work may also be required. The nature of the posts will require a flexible approach to work including occasionally working outside what are regarded as normal hours. Other essential qualities will include strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal firmly but fairly with people, and the ability to prioritise a demanding workload. Managing priorities and maintaining momentum will be key features for the successful applicants., We would welcome expressions from anyone who does not have the above essential requirements but does have a Trading Standards related degree qualification and wishes to undertake the necessary work to become a fully qualified Trading Standards Officer. A starting salary of £28,672-£32,234 would apply in these circumstances.

Candidate Description

Essential criteria for the posts include a diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent and over 3 years' experience in dealing with businesses and consumers in a Trading Standards related role.
