About this role
The purpose of the role is to create, lead and implement significant technical solutions for the One BT Information Governance/Metadata Discovery Platform. Evolving capabilities in this domain are core to the success of the Data & Analytics strategy for BT.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Cross-component or system accountability for the component design and development of complex solutions, involving multiple components & both new & existing technologies
Providing technical quality assurance for work of other engineers; resolving inter-system issues; coaching and mentoring software engineers including peers; and contributing to the learning strategy for software engineering
Accountable for the application of standards of practice within the project and contributing to the continual improvement of those standards;
You'll act as a software consultant contributing to architecture and solution design decisions about the technology roadmap
Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead on portfolio work packages for the development of that product
Responsible for the integration of a third party product within the wider solution
Setting the technical direction in their area
Driving transformational activities within work packages, including innovation, re-use and automation, e.g. selecting the core frameworks and libraries to be used
Candidate Description
Must have significant software engineering experience developing solutions using at least two of the following : Python, Bash, Groovy, Java, Ruby
Well-versed in Agile techniques, preferably with accredited training
Solution Design
Familiar with Devops - CI/CD techniques
Experience of developing REST APIs
Good Understanding of metadata concepts (sources, meaning, repositories)
PREFERRED
Knowledge of Collibra Data Governance or similar Metadata/Governance applications
Knowledge of Trillium Discovery or similar DQ profiling tools
Experience implementing BPMN Workflows
Operating Systems - experience working on Linux OS preferred
Oracle RDBMS - eg SQL, PL/SQL, Admin
Analytics Tools (eg Qlik, Tableau)
Experience of developing solutions in a Cloud setting (GCP (highest preference), AWS, Azure)
UI Design & development; UX-focussed.
Familiarity with data modelling concepts will be useful
