We are Amazon's EU Design & Construction team, and we are responsible for the construction of Amazon's European building infrastructure program which includes Sortation Centers and Cross Dock buildings, as well as refurbishment of our existing infrastructure. We want to be the Earth's most customer-centric company, and our team lives up to this promise to our internal customers., We now require an experienced Sustainability Technical Expert (Sustainability Manager) to support us with the tremendous growth of our European network. You will be responsible for the definition and improvement in carbon and energy efficiency of all aspects of the built environment especially mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, HVAC, plumbing and BMS systems we design and implement to our buildings. We require holistic expertise to advise to internal and external teams, and we wish to improve and optimize the design, construction and operation of these subjects. You will be part of our EU Pre-Construction team, who are delivering all parts of our buildings, including mechanical handling equipment and Amazon Robotics equipment. You will be our Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical & Electrical & HVAC, and the link between the Construction team, which manage ongoing projects on the ground, the Preconstruction team which are setting these projects up, and the Worldwide Design and Sustainability teams which issue the prototype templates. You will review and consult templates and execution designs and concepts, and bring in improvements in all parts of sustainability and carbon reduction step changes. You will also support us with BIM implementation and improvement of our asset documentation. And there will be countless other things. This opportunity combines strong construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management capabilities. We require a talent with proven track record in permitting, design and engineering, and project management. The role will be based in Luxembourg, Germany or the UK and will include frequent travel to many locations throughout EU. The role will include frequent travel to locations within EU.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review, challenge and improve mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and BMS services engineering and holistic design for template prototypes and new- built or refurbishment projects

  • Support the deployment of sustainability with the Pre-construction Team.

  • Gateway for all technical stakeholders (IT, LP. BMS, Risk) the Pre-construction Team.

  • Drive the procurement team by defining the specifications for MEP categories

  • Influence, coordinate and deliver Sustainability targets and strategies relating to all Construction activity across our program of activity.

  • Lead technical program reviews and drive schedule acceleration, cost savings, standardization.

  • Define and implement strategies for data collection and provision for Information Management on existing and new real estate assets

  • Collect and sync feedback from developer, GCs and Consultants and internal stakeholders

  • Assist Preconstruction and Construction Managers during design reviews, GC procurement, value engineering, tender reviews

  • Deep dive on technical details and lead problem resolution on a need basis

Candidate Description

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience providing implementation, training and support in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks/Solibri and BIM 360 (or similar CDE)

  • HND/HNC in Construction and Built Environment or BIM Information Management.

  • Experienced in federating and coordinating BIM model updates, running clash detection on revised components, creating libraries and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of primary building systems on industrial projects- foundations, primary building structure and walls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, fire protection, specialty systems, conveying systems and interior finishes) and the sequence of assembly for each

  • Ability to lead and manage a team, including, coaching and disciplinary actions, as needed

  • Ability to effectively communicate Amazon requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, etc.)

  • English speaking, speaking of other EU languages is a plus,

  • University Degree, B.S. or Master, in Architecture, or Engineering (or science/technology).

  • Extensive mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering, execution, design or prototyping experience, and holistic design expertise

  • Proven technical leadership experience in development and implementation of large scale, complex projects.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% across projects in Europe.

  • Excellent working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software.

  • Professional fluency in English required
