This is a technical specialist position within the Global Brands Sustainability team reporting to the Global Head of Sustainability and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Global Brands Mission Pillar 'Protect our Planet and Communities' and associated Sustainability Strategy and commitments/targets. The individual will have a key role in:

  • Helping to drive sustainable sourcing practices throughout our owned brand supply chain, respecting human rights and engaging with suppliers around ethical and environmental issues; and

  • Continually improving the traceability and transparency of our owned brand products and associated supply chains. The role requires extensive knowledge across the broad spectrum of environmental and social sustainability policy, frameworks and legislation and requires experience of supporting sustainability programmes in a large organisation with complex supply chains. Working as part of a global network of sustainability managers the role will also require close collaboration with Innovation, Technical, Regulatory, Sourcing and Supply Chain teams located in the UK, Asia and US to build internal capacity and capability to ensure key current and future business risks and opportunities are identified and managed.

    Your Responsibilities

  • To promote current and develop new sustainability policies and standards as required to maintain licence to operate or enable new market or category entry.

  • To ensure sustainability commitments and targets are appropriately embedded into key tools, systems and ways of working relevant to product delivery and supply chain management.

  • To identify opportunities to improve consistency and integration of sustainability approaches across Global Brands wherever possible.

  • To accelerate Global Brands workstreams on product and supply chain traceability and transparency for improved business resilience and ultimately enable brands to engage and inspire consumers on sustainability.

  • To keep abreast of key industry and sustainability trends and proactively identify emerging and future supply base issues, risks and opportunities.

  • To identify potential new beneficial collaborations to advance sustainability with the support of others.

  • To support with developing training materials for key internal stakeholders and suppliers as needed.

  • To support the development of business objectives, performance measures or other metrics to aid decision-making and demonstrate improved sustainability and commercial value.

  • To work with key stakeholders to ensure the necessary data and information is made available to support reporting needs for a range of internal and external audiences.

  • To represent Global Brands externally with key stakeholders to further the company's sustainability profile and interests, as appropriate.

  • A post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline and / or relevant professional qualifications.

  • Subject matter knowledge and expertise of environmental and social sustainability within retail and consumer goods industries.

  • Experience of building and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and influencing skills both internally and externally and working in partnership with suppliers, NGOs and industry bodies.

  • Ability to engage and manage individuals and teams within a matrix structure to deliver initiatives on time and to budget.

  • Willing to travel to various locations, as required.

  • Experience of working with in-country sourcing teams as well as hands-on end to end supply chain management experience with working knowledge of traceability systems would be desirable. What's in it for you? The candidate will have:
