Job Description

  • For the Facilities assistant role, you will either have some facilities experience or be someone looking to move onto this career path by having previously worked as a building caretaker or handyperson.

  • Along with other members of the Facilities Assistant team, you will be responsible for ceiling void surveying and cleaning, painting and decorating and minor maintenance repairs in and around the terminal buildings.

  • This position will be able to multitask and assist in the smooth execution of numerous daily activities across the terminal maintenance team.

    Main duties:

  • Support in maintaining the airport terminal buildings at Gatwick Airport.

  • Typical duties will include painting and decorating, surveying and cleaning of ceiling voids and other minor maintenance tasks as required.

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance work as requested by the Senior Management Team ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and with minimum disruption to the client and members of the public.

  • Contribute to the optimal performance of the maintenance operation by supporting other Mitie maintenance teams where required.

  • Undertake minor survey works and record via minor report writing in Word or PowerPoint

  • To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner and in line with both Mitie and Gatwick site specific processes.

  • To comply with all Mitie & GAL Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • To undertake additional duties in line with skills and capabilities.

  • To assist the FM team or work independently in general maintenance or repairs as required.,

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;

  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;

  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;

  • Report actual and suspected security incidents
