Candidate Description

Working from the RNAS Culdrose site the Senior Supervisor (Avionics) is responsible for the aircraft maintenance and ground support to Merlin HM Mk 2 aircraft.The Senior Supervisor (Avionics) will require an understanding of the AESAS regulatory governance applicable in an operational Military Maintenance Organisation (MMO) and airworthiness environment. They are required to hold appropriate professional qualifications and/or relevant experience to support Aircraft Engineering services at RNAS Culdrose in the AESAS Contract and supporting operational deliverables and interfaces in a highly regulated environment. In the execution of their duties to support the Serco Operational Support Team (OST) Lead with regards to managing a team and development of the Supervisors/Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices.

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. However, we are a tight knit team who love the work we do.

What you need to do the job:

To be considered for this role you must have attained a Service Certificate of Competency (CofC) or successfully completed a local Serco Supervisory Management and Aircraft Documentation Course and CofC Board. Have previous supervisory experience and a thorough and good working knowledge of the following:


  • Merlin Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade).

  • Merlin Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment.

  • Project Planning and Lean Operating Procedures.

  • Naval Air Publications and Compound - Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP).

  • Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.

  • Engineering and Asset Management Systems.

    Additionally, they must have completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course. Have a thorough understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures. Have an understanding and proven experience of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA and MAOS) including Continuous Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO).
