Responsible for driving the strategic development of the non-pharma categories, the brands, the customer proposition as well as the implementation of the planned growth strategy.
To contribute to the achievement of International Retail key performance targets relating to sales, market share, gross margin, trading profit and cash flow;
Support all markets in deploying commercial best practice through identifying best practice in WBA, tailoring it to International Retail markets and supporting its implementation and adoption., Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the markets to develop the growth strategy, by defining and executing a compelling customer proposition, supported by our supplier partners.
Coach and guide markets to implement the commercial best practices. This will include:
Lead the category strategy and portfolio development with the support of global customer insights team in each of the markets;
Lead, coach and develop local commercial & marketing teams to deliver world class, commercial relationships with Supplier partners;
Share and implement the best practices across WBA and identify how this can be adapted to the local markets
Support the markets when required with trading relationships from contract negotiations to operational delivery. Working closely with the markets, develop and deliver key implementation processes for the roll out of WBA brands and owned brands in each retail partner
Support country teams in delivering strategic projects to improve customer journey and offer the best possible care and service experience
Lead the strategic thinking and relevant projects to support new market entry projects
Support the development and culture of a high performing Category Development Team in conjunction with the rest of Commercial and Marketing team
Set up and maintain network of stakeholders across WBA to support development and delivery of International Retail objectives and initiatives
Solid understanding of the retail industry (health, personal care & beauty categories), key players, trends and pressures
A very strong commercial orientation
Collaborative interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to establish rapport and work efficiently with all team members serving various functions at various levels
Outstanding communication skills, able to communicate effectively across all levels and to a wide range of audiences
Strong business acumen and analytical skills and an understanding of the specific business drivers, processes, and values across customer enterprises;
Excellent influencing skills
Worked at least in 2 countries and speaking at least 2 languages would be an asset
Extensive leadership experience in a Commercial environment;
Experience leading a high performing team and projects;
Ideally a mix of International Retail and Brands experience gained with key international players with health, personal care and beauty product lines
A blend of both large and small/entrepreneurial company experience
Proven experience leading a business along an upward trajectory and during a rapid growth
Experience of developing and expanding business by developing productive relationships with partner organisations. Strong networking capabilities;

International Retail is a cross divisional organization of Walgreens Boots Alliance that is responsible for launch and development of International businesses, outside of US and UK. The organisation is focussed on growing the International Retail footprint, through a combination of owned business, franchise partners and relationships with third party retailers to sell our brands.
From November 2020, International Retail will also take responsibility for the Retail Own Brand, Retail Exclusive Brand and Third Party Props brands UK product selection and delivery to our markets, to provide a varied and credible retail offer for our international customers.
