Job Description

This position involves working with a team of security officers to provide an efficient and professional security service to Transport for London.

Ensure the protection of property, assets and the safety of staff and visitors to the all the Tfl establishment.

Responding and assist with assignment related Emergency / Incidents.

This role will take personal responsibility for servicing our staff and our client's management team and will be required to develop good relationships with all client representatives.,

  • To control and monitor access control into the basement of the building via access through the roller shutter and other entry points.

  • To control and monitor access and egress from the 'Cycle Alley' to the north of the building.

  • To ensure that those who are not granted access are professionally and politely prevented from gaining access and directed away from the facility and senior team (supervisors and BM team are immediately informed)

  • Provide Support in an emergency or evacuation situation, in a calm and professional manner. If unclear on role it is your responsibility to ask your supervisor or manager for more training.

  • Provide a professional, efficient, and approachable security service with associated reception duties, maintaining a high level of customer service to staff and visitors at all times.

  • Carry out internal and external patrols, day and night to ensure a safe and secure environment, recording maintenance issues, potential breaches of security or unusual occurrences in the 'Daily occurrence book'.

  • To provide staff, visitors & contractors to the Tfl establishment with helpful advice, guidance and information and if not able to do so, direct to other members of staff who can assist.

  • Ensure that those who should not be granted access to the facility are professionally and politely prevented from gaining access or escorted from the building.

  • Provide support in an emergency or evacuation situation, in a calm and professional manner. Actively provide information to any emergency services when requested to do so.

  • As part of the team undertake regular testing of fire alarms and other security equipment, completing the appropriate logs, and notifying the Security Supervisor or Cluster Manager of any issues of malfunctioning equipment.

  • Ensure and regularly check that the premises fire exit doors are maintained free of obstructions, reporting any defects or maintenance issues as appropriate.

  • Monitor and respond immediately to alarm system activations to check designated areas of concern. Effectively communication with the Control Centre to advised of incident situations or actions required of them.

  • Ensure CCTV systems are professionally, effectively and sensitively monitored in compliance with the Data protection legislation and TfL operating standards.

  • Conduct individual bag or property searches, when and if directed to do so by the Cluster Manager or above)

  • Make sure that the effective control and maintenance of keys and security equipment including any equipment e.g. radios, mobile telephone etc.

  • Conduct routine security administration including the issue of visitor / contractor passes, permits.

  • Ensure that any lost property left at within the premises is securely stored, recorded and retrieved for the owner where appropriate.

  • Maintain all security related equipment and working areas to a high standard of cleanliness and safety and ensure all defects are reported.

  • Complete relevant records and log books, in a professional manner providing sufficient detail.

  • During incidents of inappropriate behaviour or requests for assistance from the staff. Assist in the removal or escort of members of the public from the building where their behaviour is disruptive or presents a risk to others.

  • Respond to requests to move on vagrants from TfL property and ensure staff are not harassed by providing a visible security presence. (while also supporting them with information on where they may be able to gain some support ie. Salvatuion Army or other support groups)

  • Support and comply with the Fire, Health and Safety, and Security policies and procedures.

  • Working with Building Management Team carry out the evacuation of people from lifts, to minimise panic and ensure the safety of all concerned.

  • Assist in the induction and training of new members of the team

    Carry out PGI checks making sure all checks are fully completed and correctly reported on

  • Making sure all I-Learning mandatory courses are completed with the correct time line

  • Making sure any breach of GDPR is reported to your line manager, while also ensuring you do not complete a breach of GDPR (make sure you revise the course material if your unclear or ask your line manager)

  • Where required work as a Duty Fire Officer (training will be provided) during events to patrol the building and report potential risks to the Duty Manager.

  • Deal with any suspicious packages, maintaining own and others safety and dealing with these in accordance with TfL procedures.

  • Actively maintain the confidentiality of information to which Officers will be privy, be this around individuals or security sensitive information in relation to the Building, and using

  • appropriate language, particularly within the public stage door working environment.

  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Security Supervisor and Group Security Management.

Candidate Description

  • Previous Security Experience

  • SIA License

  • SC Clearance desirable
