Job Description

Location: Newbury/London (Full-time remote working during COVID-19) - South and South West COVID-19 Notice: We are continuing recruitment and have implemented new processes that promote candidate and employee safety. To manage the design and build capex programme for the technical infrastructure (principally mechanical, electrical, building fabric, fire & security) which supports the companies telecoms and data centre estate within the Southern Region. Nationally manage the on-going delivery of the Fire & Security maintenance contractor.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage the delivery of capital projects from conception through feasibility, to delivery into a maintenance environment.

  • Manage the relationship with the maintenance Contractor/s, provide the role of 'Intelligent Client' in the relationship, to assist in the resolution of building fabric, fire system and security systems faults and implementation and delivery of small works on an ongoing basis within the Southern Region

  • Review any Service Incident / Major Incident Reports ensure the faults / issues are dealt with quickly and documented. Review and assess whether the issue could also occur at other sites and undertake preventative measures as deemed necessary.

  • Ensure that all current and future Health, Safety and Environmental policies relevant to a project are maintained up to date and are complied with in full.

  • Ensure best project costs are obtained by working with procurement to undertake standard tendering procedures.

  • Ensure all contractors working are competent for the duties being undertaken and follow the agreed Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

  • Ensure Risks are documented and any on going Service or Business Risks are added to the Company Risk Register.

  • Focus on continuous improvement on delivery.

Candidate Description

  • Solid, recent experience in a similar project management/facilities management position

  • Conversant with a wide range of building service systems and equipment

  • Demonstrable experience of responsibility for Project Budget / Financial Management of Contracts totalling £1 to £2 million per annum.

  • Good knowledge/understanding of construction contracts/working practices and costs, ability to produce budget costs and breakdowns.

  • Previously experience within a Telco / Data Centre (Hosting) Environment and/or within a Maintenance Contract Environment


  • HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or Construction

  • Chartered Engineer Status


  • Good team worker/ builder with an ability to provide effective management skills to the team

  • Strong influencing skills and Effective problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in a partnering environment and develop relationships

  • Confidence and commitment to providing a high quality, professional service

  • Ability to communicate clearly whilst under pressure

  • Detail conscious, Delivery Focused, Results/ Goal orientated

  • Must be able to drive and provide national coverage (Full driving licence)
