As Mechanical Fitter / Plumber / Pipefitter you will support the Maintenance team in the provision of a high quality service; ensuring the upkeep of designated areas by carrying out maintenance of boiler, water systems and specific duties as directed., To carry out general maintenance, record keeping and any other duties requested by the Technical Services Manager.

  • To carry out routine checks on plant and equipment to ensure optimum operational conditions are achieved.

  • Reporting of breakdowns/fault.

  • Address any acute internal issues for example changes in chemical levels.

  • Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.

    Mechanical Fitter / Plumber / Pipefitter

  • Install pipe systems that move steam under high pressure at high-temperature

  • Work with blueprints and follow site local building codes

  • Determine the amount of material and type of equipment needed

  • Inspect and test installed pipe systems and pipelines

  • Troubleshoot systems not working

  • Replace worn parts

  • Install pipes that provide natural gas to heating and cooling systems and to stoves.

  • Visual inspection of boiler, chemical systems and pumps

  • Operates gas fired boilers and steam generators to generate steam that supplies heat for buildings or industrial processes.

  • Observes pressure, temperatures on panel to verify specified operation of automatic combustion control systems, feed water regulation etc.

  • Restart boiler after fault or blow down

  • Turns valves and adjusts controls to set specified water level, and steam pressure of boiler.

  • Observes boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions.

  • Test and treat boiler feed water and steam production, using specified chemicals.

  • Dependant on results of chemical analysis, adjust levels by boiler blow down methods and/or water treatment. Liaise chemical contractor to make adjustment to the dosing system.

  • Maintain log of meter and gauge readings and record data, such as water test results.

  • Ensure chemical/salt stocks are maintained.

  • Install and repair water, drainage, and gas pipes in domestic and commercial situations

  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures, showers, sinks, and toilets and appliances such as dishwashers, garbage disposals, and water heaters.

  • Repair and maintenance of Foul waste and drainage systems.

  • Install and repair large water lines, such as those which supply water to buildings.

  • Install and maintain pipes that carry chemicals, acids, and gases in commercial and industrial settings.

  • Test temperatures of hot and cold outlets in accordance to L8 and clients PPM requirements.

  • Flushing of infrequently used outlets as above.

  • Cleaning of shower heads, hoses and shower drains

  • Record all results on clients system.

  • Site wide utility meter reading and recording in accordance with clients required documentation.

    What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter / Plumber / Pipefitter** or similar role

  • Physical / Dexterity

  • Manual Handling ability

  • Carry out Planned maintenance

  • Carry out Routine water hygiene tasks,

  • General Boiler maintenance skills and basic repair tasks

  • Be flexible & carry out duties which are not specific to your trade

  • Hold a full clean driving licence

  • Hold Gas safe Registration (Domestic / Commercial)

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety & safe working practices, all mandatory Safety training will be given, but specialist training will be offered if required.

  • Baseline security clearance is required.
