We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Operative for the Stoke-on-Trent & Crewe region to work in our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.
Working closely with the housing teams the primary function of this role is to provide building maintenance services to a designated area / or number of properties ensuring that all properties under your control are free from building defects and they are safe and habitable in accordance with the Decent Homes Standard. Where there is a specialist trade, the role also supports non-trade Maintenance Operatives (MO's) to fix faults and provide technical advice and support.
You will be the site liaison for all stakeholder parties with an interest in the property and external sub-contractors and will also check all relevant property reports before undertaking works in the properties (e.g. asbestos, dangerous persons,) or request additional reports if deemed appropriate. You will ensure there are no hazards to users of the property and undertake audit samples of external suppliers work.
A valid UK driver's licence is essential in order to provide a fully compliant service as there may be a requirement to be on-call outside of normal working hours with the ability to travel within the regions and occasionally within the UK provide a 24 hour/7 day a week maintenance service .
What you need to do the job
Due to the nature of the role Security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
This is a role in which requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills due to the variety of accountabilities which also include the following:
Possession of relevant trade qualifications.
Understanding of building maintenance.
Undertake garden maintenance duties,
Repairing all Serco supplied furniture or ensuring furniture is replaced
Removing all waste from properties.
