Candidate Description
This post would be ideally suited to candidates who are aiming to advance their CV while gaining critical care experience. Applicants must be doctors who hold Full/limited registration with the GMC and have successfully completed foundation year 2 training in an NHS setting. The Junior Clinical Fellow will gain experience in management of Critical Care patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. The post allows the Fellow to build a well-rounded portfolio of clinical experience, service development/audit, teaching and management. In addition to regular teaching, 15 days of study leave are allocated per year (pro rata).

This post is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine or by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
The successful candidate would participate in a full shift rota with a 1 in 8 on call. The post is EWTD compliant and pay banding is 1A.
NUH consists of the Queens Medical Centre Campus and the Nottingham City Hospital Campus. Duties will be based at both campuses. On the QMC campus the critical care area is divided into a 21-bedded intensive care (level 3 beds) and a 20-bedded level 2 HDU. The critical care area at the City campus has 17 beds that are used flexibly for level 2 and 3 care. Between the three units we see approximately 4000 admissions per year. NUH is the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre and is one of the busiest trauma units in Europe.
Our critical care areas are recognised for training by the Royal Colleges of Anaesthetists, Physicians, and Surgeons, the College of Emergency Medicine and by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine). There is a well-established weekly educational programme, a well co-ordinated audit programme, as well as a well-developed research programme (among our staff is the Vice Chair of the NIHR's Critical Care Group).
This post is whole time and is covered by the Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service. Non EEA national doctors are eligible to apply provided they fulfil the Personal Specifications. Where there are no British citizens or EEA nationals the post may be filled by a non-EEA national who will require a work permit.
