Job Description

Mitie are currently seeking a Skilled Gardener to join our Mitie Landscapes Division. The Skilled Gardener will be leading a team of 2 other grounds operatives ensuring the up keep and maintenance of a large site all year round.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, our Skilled Gardener will be ensuring works are delivered to the required standards by means of effective use of labour, materials and equipment. The Skilled Gardener will also be confident in supervising others to achieve the highest level of standards.

Our Skilled Gardener will carry out duties such as:

  • To pro-actively demonstrate and work to the Company's values of People, Passion, Fresh Thinking and Exciting Futures

  • Our Skilled Gardener will be able to lead by example with regards to health and safety, compliance with statutory and contractual legislative requirements

  • The Skilled Gardener will provide support to the Contract Manager by co-ordinating maintenance work

  • Ensure work is completed on time, within budget and meets service level agreements

  • Develop a professional and effective operational team, ensuring objectives are met. As a Skilled you will be required to monitor and ensure all targets are achieved

  • To understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time

  • To understand and comply with policies and procedures

  • As our Skilled Gardener, you will be required to attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required

  • To provide management information/reporting as required

  • To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required,

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;

    Information Security

  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;

  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;

  • Report actual and suspected security incidents

Candidate Description

Skills / Experience /Competency required:

  • PA1 & PA6 licences is essential

  • Full drivers licence

  • DBS required

  • Relevant professional management qualifications and/or qualified through experience

  • Horticulture experience and good plant knowledge

  • Can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems and the management of safe systems of work associated with the role and work environment

  • Able to lead by example, motivate and manage a team effectively
