As an experienced Electrician, you will be working within HMP YOI ISIS, an establishment that houses sentenced young adults and category C offenders. ISIS is situated within the perimeter of HMP Belmarsh.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities:
To carryout duties in compliance with MITIE Maintenance Policies and Procedures.
To perform tasks in a professional manner to a suitable standard to meet both Client and mitie expectations.
Compliance with Health and Safety policy / legislation.
Work within the security requirements of the site.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance safely and efficiently maintain and repair plant and equipment.
Carry out required fault finding to plant and equipment.
Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
Carry out small installation jobs as required.
Complete engineering sheets in a timely and legible manner.
Escort sub-contractors ensuring all security requirements are met.
Attend site meetings and training as required.
Assist other mitie disciplines as required / undertake additional duties within your capabilities as required.
Obey mitie and client rules.
Carry out reactive tasks as required.
· 17th edition IEE regulations.
· City & Guilds / BETEC electrical parts 1, 2, 3 or similar.
· NVQ engineering level 3 (electrical).
· Holds a HVAC qualification.
· Experience of or qualification in inspection and testing an advantage.
· Experience of prisons an advantage but not a requirement.
· Knowledge of health and safety / safe working practices.
· Able to work on their own.
· Good communication skills.
· Strong customer care focus.
· Numerate and literate.
· Must be able to work in a prison environment.
· Maintain a high standard of discipline and dress.
The site is a young offenders / cat C prison so security clearance is required to work on site. Failure to obtain the security clearance or have the security clearance removed will result in removal from contract.,
Applicants must be a UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with their own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen.
Have a valid in date passport, with no restrictions on their stay in the UK.
You must have continuously resided in the UK for the previous 5 years with no more than 3 months spent overseas during that 5-year period.
The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; Successful candidates will be required to undergo Enhanced DBS and vetting to a level of Enhanced Check Level 1.
