Global Cyber Security's role is to inspire trust and confidence in our customers by enabling secure connectivity. Our purpose is to proactively protect Vodafone & its customers by reducing the risks posed by security threats to Vodafone's global technology infrastructure and the sensitive data it holds.
The Cyber Security Network Hardening Solution Engineer's role is to design and deliver a tool that will be used to ensure that all network devices are compliant with the security policies and guidelines developed by Vodafone Cyber without relying on manual verification, To that extent it is desired to design, implement and operate a Device Operational Assurance platform and processes that has the capability to monitor, detect and report compliance in an automated fashion against a wide variety of network elements according to both user defined and predefined security policies and will be instrumental in ensuring that the security guidelines and policies are implemented in a coordinated manner across the Vodafone footprint. The Solution Engineers will be accountable for the technical competence of the tool. This role is specifically tasked with the design and development of the tool, it is intended that this capability will be developed "in house" previous "off the shelf" solutions have not been suited to the complex environment within the Vodafone infrastructure.
The Cyber Security Solution Engineer will be required to operate effectively in a complex, dynamic, and constantly changing environment. Active & compelling engagement of teams and stakeholders will be crucial in creating the momentum required. This role requires a leader who is technically competent, an effective communicator and collaborator to deliver the consistency & risk reduction outcomes required. A close relationship and collaboration with the Secure By Design (SBD) team will be needed to guide the technical strategy and roadmap.
Work with the Cyber Prevent Domain Leadership team to define, and implement Vodafone's Cyber strategy.
Work in collaboration with the SBD team that defines and leads the platform technical strategy and roadmap.
Act as Vodafone's cyber network segregation technical experts. They will use their personal experience and judgement to be able to quickly determine the right treatment for their cyber security platforms.
Working with the Domain leads and fellow Solution Engineers to ensure that all the cyber security platforms within the domains are: globally consistent; effective and efficient; have the right technical adequacy and coverage; and are delivering the optimum risk reduction effect.
Proactive identification though KPI of technical improvement programmes
Liaise with Cyber Security Demand to ensure that Platform business demands, projects and risk reduction activities are optimally scheduled and resourced.
Acting as an ambassadors and role models for Global Cyber Security advocating for security best practice, consistency in approach.
Comp Sci background will be beneficial to be able to scale this to millions of devices
Agile delivery using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
Degree educated (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
You Must Have:
At least 5 years' experience of developing software tools.
Good understanding of design patterns and data structures
Python 3 (in a professional environment, ideally 3.6+)
Git and Continuous Integration
Basic Knowledge of Network devices (Cisco, Juniper, F5)
Personal experience and judgement to be able to quickly determine the right operational treatment of cyber security platforms.
Strong analytical skills to inform effective data driven decisions on service improvement & risk reduction
Effective collaboration across globally dispersed teams in order to deliver the consistency, and risk reduction, outcomes required.
Active & compelling engagement of people and stakeholders, across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, up to and including Cyber Security Leadership Team level.
