The Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Lead will be to: + Be pro-active, engage with GPA staff to understand their business priorities and WS requirements and help to raise the profile of Commercial. + Lead, manage and support on an allocated portfolio of projects and commercial issues specific to WS. + Develop effective WS commercial strategies to meet business needs and achieve good commercial outcomes in line with the Commercial Operating Standards. + Provide commercial advice and support to GPA colleagues relating to WS including strategic engagement on high value, high risk projects. + Review WS proposals and business cases providing critical challenges to ensure legal and policy compliance, identification and management of commercial risks and delivery of value for money + Build trusting and effective working relationships with a wide range of GPA colleagues and government wide stakeholders including Crown Commercial Service, Cabinet Office and strategic suppliers. + Help maintain the procurement pipeline and contract register specific to WS to help support and deliver all commercial reporting requirements. + Support effective WS contract and supplier relationship management to maximise value in compliance with CM Standards and commercial best practice. + Deliver compliant WS procurements working with Crown Commercial Services to meet GPA business needs. + Work with colleagues to enable GPA to meet its strategic objectives to promote growth, transform the Civil Service, contribute to Net Zero and deliver better value. + Help in the identification and management of commercial risks specific to WS. + Develop On-Boarding Commercial due diligence template, note ensure alignment with project strategy template and the on-boarding + Set up individual folders for each On-Boarding project on shared drive + Ensure the novation documentation templates are available (NEC3 Novation Clause, CCS Utility Novation Forms)

Candidate Description

  • MCIPS/CIPS Qualification or equivalent + Excellent commercial acumen, category management, procurement and contract management delivery experience + Experience of working successfully in fast-paced, matrix structured, complex commercial environment + Proven leadership skills and understanding of good commercial practice (preferably with experience of the public-sector) + Excellent communication skills, stakeholder engagement and relationship management + Experience of WS procuring and contract management.
