Job Description

As Building and Civils Operative you will support the Maintenance team in the provision of a high-quality service; ensuring the upkeep of designated areas by carrying out general and specific duties as directed.,

  • To carry out ad hoc general minor repairs as required, general portering, cleaning, decorating duties as requested by the client via the Mitie Management team.

  • To carry out routine checks on plant and equipment to ensure optimum conditions are achieved.

  • Address any acute internal issues for example blocked drains, toilets, minor spillages.

  • Painting and decorating as agreed and directed by management.

  • Reporting of breakdowns/fault.

  • Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.

    What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable previous experience as a handyperson, B&C Operative

  • Physical / Dexterity

  • Manual Handling ability

  • Painting/Decorating

  • Carpentry

  • Plumbing

  • Tiling

  • Assist with Planned maintenance

  • Assist with Minor building fabric repairs,

  • Assist with Routine water hygiene tasks

  • Assist with Minor building fabric repairs

  • Candidates should be experienced in all aspects of groundwork, brickwork, concreting and hard and soft landscaping.

Candidate Description

  • Able to work in a demanding and busy area

  • Basic computer knowledge - desirable

  • Must have good communication skills both verbal and written

  • Flexible/Adaptable in approach to work

    Person specification

  • Previous maintenance experience working in a commercial environment

  • General handyman skills joinery, painting and basic repair tasks

  • Be flexible & carry out duties which are not specific to your trade

  • Hold a full clean driving licence

  • Holds relevant professional qualifications - time served apprenticeship, C&G or equivalent

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety & safe working practices, all mandatory Safety training will be given, but specialist training such as IPAF and PASMA will be offered.

  • Understands the relevance of toolbox talks, Permit to Work procedures and safe systems of working.

  • Flexibility over working hours (may be required to work evenings and weekends to ensure work is co-ordinated / completed)

  • Strong customer care focus.

    You must be willing to undergo a BPSS and SC check for this role.
