Job Description

The London Cycle Hire Scheme (LCHS) are seeking Bicycle Mechanic Technicians to carry out workshop based maintenance to bicycles and return them to a safe and serviced condition ready for redeployment, covering complex planned work.,

  • Responsible for carrying out scheduled maintenance of cycle fleet. Work to include planned replacement of "lifed" components in accordance with a checklist provided by Serco

  • Overall responsibility for bicycle service to ensure operational continuity (excluding work carried out on street)

  • Report any possible trends in damage and wear of the fleet

  • Complete all electronic logging of work and necessary paperwork in an accurate, legible and timely manner

  • Responsible for matters of Health and Safety with respect to yourself and others at all times

  • Act at all times as a role model for Serco/Cycle Hire, our clients and sponsors and wear correct uniform and identification at all times

  • Ensure that any breaches of security, fraud, vandalism and abuse relating to Serco/Cycle Hire assets and staff are identified and reported to avoid and reduce crime

  • Satisfactorily complete and pass all mandatory and refresher training; including periodic checks and assessments

  • Complete other duties as directed by the Workshop Supervisor

Candidate Description

  • Competent to deliver all aspects of the assembly, maintenance and repair schedule (Essential)

  • Background in mechanics/mechanical maintenance or equivalent for maintenance of bicycles (Essential)

  • NVQ in Cycle Maintenance or City and Guilds in Cycle Maintenance and Repair (level 2 and above) - professional training and accreditation to recognised standards or relevant mechanical qualifications (Desirable)

  • Knowledge of Serco - people, policies and procedures (Desirable)

  • Knowledge/experience of Transport for London (Desirable)
