Balfour Beatty VINCI has an exciting opportunity for an Utilities Manager to join the Major Structures Utilities Team on HS2 in Birmingham.

Role purpose:

Manage and coordinate Utilities related activities in Sublot 4 in the area specified by the Sublot Utilities Manager and/or Sublot Utilities Lead Coordinator as per describe accountabilities below. Other main duties include managing the New Connections scope, lead investigation of uncharted services, collaborate within the wider Sublot Utilities Team and support to the BBVJV Avoidance of Underground Services policies.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage all removals, protections and assures in their area of influence as allocated by the Utilities Lead Coordinator or Sublot Utilities Managers, including all internal and external interfaces;

  • Develop and deliver Agreement in Principle (SSAIPs), Construction Readiness Checklists (CRCs) for protections, removals and assurances, in coordination with the SUs and complying with their minimum requirements as instructed by HS2;

  • Collaborate with the Utilities Design Coordinator for the Sublot, DJV, BBMU (Utilities Detailed Designer) and the SUs on the production of the Utilities Detailed Designs necessary to his/her scope of works as per process established in BBVJV;

  • Issue weekly 3WLA programme of the activities under their responsibility, ensuring these are captured in the Sublot Utilities 3WLA programme;

  • Ensure that all Non-Contestable works for the activities under their responsibility are paid and coordinated with the SUs, including any CDM transfer required, as per procedures instructed by HS2;

  • Be responsible for the budget, costs and cost allocation of the activities under their responsibility. Participate in any Bottom-Up Forecast exercises;

  • Manage the scope & process regarding New Connections either temporary (e.g. compounds) or permanent as required by the HS2 design;

  • Ensure that all protection measures are adhere to and manage the communication between the Sublot Teams and SUs regarding Plant Protection/AoD until this fully managed by the Asset Protection Team;

  • Lead and act on any uncharted services found by the teams on site and in accordance to the BBVJV established procedure;

  • Apply and comply for any Consents required for their activities and ensure compliance with EMRs and U&As as applicable;

  • Meet with the Utilities CAD Technician on a weekly basis and strive for clear and accurate data on iSpatial, including new services installed in their area of influence. Maintain a close collaboration with the Asset Protection Team in this matter

Candidate Description

  • SMSTS; Relevant CSCS and EUSR Cards;

  • Practical on-site experience delivering construction projects, including the management of Utilities;

  • Good understanding of PAS128 and PAS256 standards;

  • Good understanding and experience of a wide range of engineering principals, construction techniques and best practices, including Utilities Detection and Service Avoidance;

  • Be familiar with Statutory Undertaker™s specifications, processes and procedures, including Plant Protection and New Connections
