Job Description
Test Engineers undertake test and commissioning activities of Station Information Security System on the Edinburgh Tram project within agreed timescales and budgeted costs and are responsible for its contribution to overall business performance., Day to day responsibilities will consist of the below. There will be some element of training provided, but the successful candidates will likely be those who do need extensive training on a majority of these things:
Test copper cable (including multi core & structured)
Test fibre cabling
Functionally set up CCTV systems and configure head end equipment (Bosch system)
Complete functional testing of the CCTV system
Take SPL meter readings of the PA system
Configure the PA system (ASL System)
Functionally test the PA system
Set up the passenger information system (infotec)
Configure the passenger information system
Functionally test the passenger information system
Test all local and remote interfaces
Commission all three system
Candidate Description
Previous experience in Telecoms Tester role for SISS projects (Operational Telecoms projects background will be considered)
An engineering background with previous experience in a test and commissioning engineering environment.
Previous experience delivery of test and commissioning tasks for implementation projects within the Main Line, Mass Transit and Light Rail environment.
HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant subject
IRSE License in relevant category (Telecoms Testing)
Experience of project engineering processes covering testing and commissioning.
Knowledge of Safety Critical and Safety Related activities in the rail environment.
Proven flexibility in the role as it requires an element of travelling and unsociable hours working which may include night working, weekend working and bank holiday working.
Proven experience Operational Telecommunications systems test and commissioning activities in the rail environment.
Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office
Full UK Driving license
