As MLT Senior Validation Manager you will manage and deliver instrumental research, validation and process design projects that improve the development and delivery of customer-focused, data-driven, automated, digital assessment products, with particular emphasis on Speaking and Writing tests., In order to ensure the reliability, validity, security and efficiency of multi-level, digital Speaking and Writing tests, you will:

  • design, manage and continually improve content production and quality assurance processes,

  • develop, trial and validate new digital item types for Speaking and Writing tests,

  • evaluate and validate existing Speaking and Writing mark schemes and develop, trial and validate new ones when necessary,

  • evaluate, monitor and continually improve the performance of Speaking and Writing examiners,

  • evaluate and monitor the performance of existing Speaking and Writing automarking technologies and prepare the required data for the development of new Speaking and Writing automarker models,

  • develop, monitor and continually improve malpractice detection algorithms and processes,

  • review developments from industry and academia to inform product research, development and delivery, and represent the team and organisation as a credible expert on digital assessment, especially with regard to Speaking and Writing assessment,

  • contribute to the publication of research.

Candidate Description

Successful candidates will have a degree with a strong emphasis on educational assessment, statistics or social sciences and preferably a postgraduate degree in a relevant area, e.g. language testing, statistics, psychometrics, linguistics, psychology. You will have the ability to apply knowledge of language assessment, psychometrics and IRT to next-generation, computer-based product development and delivery. Ideally, you will be able to code in several statistical packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Python) and be willing to adapt to using other approaches where needed. You will also have the ability to carry out complex analyses involving inferential statistics, and the ability to present and communicate the outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will be a problem solver and be able to work in an agile manner, under pressure in a fast-moving and constantly changing environment. Successful candidates will ideally have experience of working in assessment and educational measurement and implementing quantitative research methods and statistical analysis procedures, preferably in the field of Speaking and Writing performance testing.
