As a Senior Public Affairs and Policy Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Public Affairs and Policy in managing relationships and communications with political and policy audiences.

You will get to work across a wide range of policy issues which impact the bank, helping to develop positions on key topics and supporting ExCo members when engaging with external stakeholders.

The difference you'll make.

  • Supporting the Head of Public Affairs & Public Policy on developing our public affairs and policy strategy.

  • Managing communications, and be the key point of contact on Corporate and Commercial Banking and Sustainability. You will need to become the go-to person on those issues and how they relate to wider banking policy.

  • Building relationships and proactively liaise with the Public Policy function in Santander Group.

  • Working closely with Santander UK's regulatory affairs function, and you will be expected to lead high-quality commentary and formal responses to government consultations and submissions to Select Committee inquiries, as well as overseeing briefings for trade association meetings.

  • Managing communications with MPs and other political stakeholders to develop a positive and productive dialogue.

Candidate Description

  • A Public Affairs professional with strong experience of the UK's public policy and political environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Producing high quality material and discuss this with a range of stakeholders through to Board level.

    It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Some experience of working in financial services, or a heavily regulated sector.

  • Direct experience working within politics, civil service or private sector public affairs role would be highly beneficial.

  • Proactive self-self-starter with the ability to work independently.
