Join us on our new and exciting fibre venture, as a Senior Operations Engineer. You will provide effective support, management and expertise in the co-ordination and implementation of the operational/maintenance procedures for the Virgin Media 02 (VM02) Converged Interconnect Network (CIN) and all customer connecting platforms.

The successful candidate will need to conduct Operational Readiness assessments ensuring the operating environment is prepared to effectively support and accept the introduction of new systems and services into Operations.

We're also looking for expertise and ability to maintain the integrity of the CIN and all services riding. You'll be required to devise proactive maintenance routines & react to Quality of Service (QOS) performance data to increase availability & minimise Network failures.

Ideally the role will be based out of the Reading office, but we open to other locations across Hammersmith, Birmingham and Manchester. Candidates must be open and able to travel monthly to the Reading offices for team meetings and collaboration days.

Candidate Description

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Can discuss in depth and demonstrate understanding of DWDM Technologies (Ciena, Infinera).

  • Can showcase a good understanding and talk through Transmission (L1), Ethernet (L2), IP (L3) and Synchronisation (SyncE and PTP) features.

  • Vast operational experience in a Network Management Centre environment.

  • Ability to create and sustain credible relationships with key stakeholders, 3rd party MSP(s), Technology vendors and cross functional teams.

  • Must showcasestrong interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills.

  • Sound PC skills with good working knowledge of all standard Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Our shareholders and investment partners have recently announced the creation of a new fibre joint venture, which aims to provide up to 7 million premises with a new wholesale full fibre network. This is going to be HUGE! The role will see you providing support and direction for engineers and management in the resolution of major incidents in real time.
