Job Description
You will work as part of Asda's Decision Science and Analytics team. As a Data Product and Strategy, you will:
Look after the Data Product and Strategy work within the department, joining the Decision Science and Analytics Leadership Team
Lead a team of Data Engineers and help build customer data strategy. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Decision Science and Analytics to drive growth and identify needs for new technologies and tools.
Work closely with internal teams from analytics and data science to help build scalable and secure data platforms at the enterprise level
Work with our technology teams to develop tangible and ongoing standardisation, simplification and efficiency of engineering processes
Build innovative and new data products, leading the inception and design and partnering with technology to migrate and scale
Continue to build new capability, enriching our cloud data platform with datasets for all Asda colleagues
Work with our technology teams to deliver a data management process framework for the efficient acquisition, modelling, and processing of data
Work with our technology teams to design and develop the technology roadmap to deliver the capability required by the analytics and data science teams
Develop and evolve the data operating model to enable efficient analytics and data science delivery
Build relationships with key external partners
Set standards and share knowledge, ensuring the team remain engaged and skilled in the latest technology
Provide thought leadership on data can help make better business decisions for our customers and us
Ensure a Cloud First approach to our work
Hire, support and coach new team members. Ensuring they are thriving in their role within the team.
Support the careers of our analysts and data scientists through pro-active coaching, mentoring and regular 1-2-1s
Build strong relationships with other data, data science and analytics teams within Asda to learn, share and benefit from a wider data community
Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques and methodologies and drive innovation with the team

Extensive experience working in data and analytics, with of experience managing one or more teams
Proven experience working in/with data engineering roles
Proven Data Strategy experience in high volume customer facing businesses
Experience in building CI/CD data pipelines to support the delivery of analytics and data science at scale
Knowledge of data modelling and engineering practices
Passionate about innovative data analytics and data science applications to drive positive outcomes for our customers and business
High awareness of data and analytics technology, passion for learning, experimenting with new ways of doing things and continuous improvement
Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to present clear information in a range of ways.
Proven influencing skills, the ability to tell a convincing story internally and externally
Self-motivated, curious, and positive mindset
High degree of expertise in applying data engineering, analytics and/or data science to customer facing outcomes, ideally in a high-volume retail / ecommerce environment
Knowledge of modern analytics and data science platform tooling and processes (e.g. Python, SQL, Hive)
Experience with Cloud services (ideally Azure and GCP)
Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, listen, reflect and influence
Proactive problem solver comfortable with ambiguity
iExperence working with Data Engineering teams to efficiently productionise end to end processes
Experience of Agile delivery
High standards - you will know what good looks like and want to deliver it
Educated to degree level, ideally in a relevant STEM discipline
It would be great if you also had
Experience in helping evolve a culture of data in a company
Project management experience with the ability to manage and prioritise complex work projects concurrently
Experience working with consumer-level, product and supply chain data
