Senior Data Architect - Inside IR35

Contract Term: 6 months with potential for extension

Contracting Authority: Cabinet Office

Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week in London

The Cabinet Office is undergoing a significant Digital Transformation. Over the next three years as we aspire to make UK Government digital services the best in the world and meet or exceed the benchmark set globally by the best public or private sector standards. For us to meet this ambition we are aiming to further improve the conditions, processes and expertise we have in place to be set up for success. This means we need to go much further and faster and strengthen delivery of DDaT in government.

The Senior Data Architect will work as part of Border Readiness Directorate (BRD) within the Border, Trade and Brexit Opportunities Group, reporting to the Head of Delivery. BRD is responsible for ensuring effective arrangements at the border following the UK's exit from the EU, including transformation to deliver a world leading border. BRF also leads on cross-Government data sharing to support border arrangements and maximise the potential of government and third-party data. Within this context, you will work as part of a small team responsible for a suite of services that extract and integrate data from a number of sources to support analysis and decision making across government.

As a Senior Data Architect your main responsibilities would be:

  • Performing a detailed business analysis of the current state architecture.
  • Working closely with users and system specialists to gain a comprehensive understanding.
  • Contextualising how the system fits into and interacts with the wider enterprise architecture.
  • Understanding a complete picture of the end-to-end data flow and lineage.
  • Creating logical, physical and canonical data models to represent how information is being held.
  • Presenting findings back to business stakeholders as well as the CDIO data assurance team.
  • Driving the transformation from an architectural perspective to ensure it remains true to the vision.

You'll have:

  • A proven track record in business and data architecture on large scale enterprise transformations.
  • An understanding of data architecture principles and practices.
  • Experience in using Data tooling such as Informatica, Collibra, Erwin.
  • Experience of data modelling at system and enterprise levels.
  • Experience of working within a formal architecture framework such as TOGAF or DAMA.
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
