Join Virgin Media O2 as a Sales Engineer Executive in our Bid and Pre-Sales team, within this role you will be supporting the Virgin media turnover target, specifically focused on Public Sector.

The purpose of this role is assisting in the qualification of opportunities by pro-active, early engagement in the sales cycle and providing dedicated technical support to both customer and account team.

The Sales Engineer Executive will be responsible for understanding the various products and capabilities offered by VMO2 Business and developing technically valid and commercially advantageous solutions which underpin the customer's strategy and meet their desired business outcomes, whilst still meeting VMO2's goals and objectives.

The Sales Engineer Executive acts as an interface between the sales community and the customer with the rest of the VMO2 organisation. On larger and more complex requirements, by liaising with other internal stakeholders, the Sales Engineer Executive ensures the proposed technical solution has been validated, accurately designed and documented and been agreed through internal governance processes for final submission to customer. The Sales Engineer Executive will be responsible for assisting the Sales team in presenting the solution to the customer to explain the technical merits of the proposal and how they meet the customer objectives.

Other responsibilities include supporting business-wide change initiatives and improvements as required.

Candidate Description

  • This is a field-based roles, therefore flexibility to handle UK travel and occasional overnight stays is required. Flexibility to work from home with requirement for occasional office based meetings.

  • Knowledge and experience with networking technologies in the IT, Telecoms or SI industry in at least one of the following areas is essential: + WAN data products including Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, VPLS, SD-WAN and Internet + DWDM and Dark Fibre networks + LAN switching, Security, Data Centre Networking and Compute, Cloud Infrastructure + Voice (Traditional Voice, Cloud Voice, Mobile, SIP, on premise Unified Communications) + Public and Private WiFi Services including Managed Services + Mobility - mobile integration into IP networks and IOT

  • Experience in a customer facing environment and in presenting solutions.

  • A sound working knowledge of business procedure and processes.

  • A working understanding of Sales processes, forecasting and Sales / bid stages.

  • Enthusiasm for technical innovation and emerging technologies.

  • Ability to understand and present complex technical solutions, in industry standard formats to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Awareness of emerging technologies and how they strategically fit with VMO2's commercial strategy and the goals of its customers.

  • Competent customer facing skills

    Desirable:

  • Understanding of responding successfully to customer proposals and in producing internal and external solution design descriptions. Experience of Public Sector procurement frameworks.

  • Education to degree level in a technical or business focused subject.
