Working as part of a dynamic and fast-growing engineering team, the Software Engineering Lead will take technical ownership and leadership for the modernisation strategy for the Merit FINBOS UI components. Working closely with the wider business units to design and deliver secure, performant and scalable solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

  • Work closely with pre-sales and the business leads to understand the technical and usability requirements of our clients

  • Work closely with the wider Engineering, Delivery and Security teams to help define the technical strategy

  • Select and implement the appropriate technical components based on modern practices and strategies

  • Oversee the delivery of the strategy by the core engineering team providing sound technical recommendations

  • Ownership for the agile processes and productivity of the assigned engineering team

  • Leadership and mentoring for the technical teams,

  • Senior Management teams across Meritsoft

  • Cognizant Studio team and wider Accelerator Core team

  • Legal, Compliance and Security

    Impact

  • Driving the design and implementation of the UI modules of Meritsoft modernisation strategy to meet the requirements of our clients and internal teams.

    Working Conditions (hours, locations, accident or health hazards, travel facilities)

  • Standard 37.5 hours per week based in London (flexible), with travel to other locations as and when required

Candidate Description

Application of Knowledge, Problem solving & Innovation

  • Must have a minimum of strong years of experience leading software engineering teams

  • Strong understanding and experience in building scalable Single Page Applications (SPAs) using modern JavaScript technologies.

  • Strong experience with hands on development in the ReactJS (Angular also considerable)

  • Experience designing and implementing user interfaces in line with modern design trends to build responsive, interactive, and secure user interfaces

  • Good understanding of the various database platforms both on premise and cloud hosted

  • Strong background in delivery pipelines and the automation of the UI components to produce quality CI/CD processes

  • Understanding of good software designs and patterns to produce SOLID code that is easily maintained and supported,

  • Experience in ownership of software design, demonstrating proactive engagement to deliver solutions.

  • Strong experience in designing and implementing responsive, interactive, and secure user interfaces

  • Proven experience working within agile methodologies while understanding the fundamental principles behind what they are trying to achieve and why they are valued

  • Proven experience balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity, applying both pragmatism and bold direction when appropriate

  • Sound understanding of the wider technical landscape, open source technologies and modern practices around ReactJS and modern JavaScript technologies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary and remote teams

  • Experience of leading high performing engineering teams

    Essential:

  • Strong commercial acumen backed up by considerable business experience.

    Desirable:

  • Degree (or equivalent)
