Procurement Manager (Buyer)

Our client is a globally respected engineering organisation, providing white collar, Blue collar and engineering services to many sectors including energy, aerospace, marine and defence. On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Procurement Manager (Buyer) for a 12 months contract based in Bristol providing Hybrid working.

Purpose of the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for number of Strategic Buyer's to join our Rolls-Royce Civil Business. These opportunities will be within the Strategic Procurement team across our four Categories: Raw Material and Forming, Design Make, Complex Machining and Finished Components.

The role of the Buyer will support the creation of the integrated commodity / category strategy(s) and / or will support the execution the associated strategic sourcing and commercial activities.

As a [JOB TITLE] you will be responsible for:

  • The in-contract management of your designated suppliers, providing continuity of supply and required levels of technology, quality, cost and delivery performance
  • Ensuring that all sourcing activities are in line with the defined purchasing processes, which will include the raising and management of all purchase documentation within the appropriate system.
  • Effectively managing day to day partners and suppliers.
  • Working with suppliers to identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities in line with agreed contracts with deployment of relevant cost models
  • Supporting the execution of sourcing and commercial activities to maximise the value proposition across designated commodities / categories. Gaining a fact-based understanding of current supply base, supplier economics and major trends in relevant markets.
  • Supporting the development and deployment of relevant integrated commodity / category / supplier strategies, providing a clear vision and strategic framework for the designated supply chain(s).
  • Working collaboratively, as part of a highly skilled cross functional teams to ensure that strategies meet the needs of current and future manufacturing programmes
  • Understanding supplier obligations contained in the Global Supplier Code of Conduct and addressing any supplier compliance concerns through direct action or escalation and ensuring that supplier is compliance to the Global Supplier Code of Conduct is maintained.
  • Being accountable for compliance to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all purchasing records and documentations are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Selecting a supply chain capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements and ensuring the management and rectification of quality and delivery issues.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Operational Buyer (Raising RFQ's, Raising purchase orders, Source to pay process experience, Strong numbers / mathematics experience, Good operational mindset - work to key dates and deadline etc)
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven Procurement and sourcing experience
  • Engineering background, ideally within the Aerospace/Defence industry.
  • Has a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
  • Good planning / project management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management preferred
  • Need to have a good engineering technical understanding specifically within repair activities if possible.
  • Strong supplier management experience.
  • MCIPS qualified desirable however not essential
  • SAP experience would be desirable.
