The role will report to the Application Team Leader and will be responsible for the Lead Development, Integration and Maintenance of Applications, Cloud environments and Hosted Systems in support of Business as Usual and project work.

The role will lead a team of developers in the architectural design, development and configuration and maintenance of cloud-native/web software solutions.

Key duties will include:

  • The development team act as resource for both project and Business as Usual which requires the team to provide continuing support and maintenance of existing applications to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the IT environment

  • Working with the team, project managers, stakeholders and end users to analyse the business needs, plan and execute development, supporting test cycles and contributing as the technical resource for the project, to bring in innovative, creative and cost-effective solutions into production, compliant with development governance, cyber security design principles, service level agreements and data protection

  • Provide appropriate responses to incidents, service requests and change requests through the IT helpdesk system

  • Lead a team of developers in the delivery of projects commissioned by the organisation

  • Work with the Application Team Lead to manage the development team to ensure sustainability, succession, development, skill cross training and resources to ensure continuity of service delivery

  • Take proactive responsibility for the lifecycle of web applications, information systems and projects across the organisation

  • Provide ongoing support, development and resolution of issues related to web applications, analysing results of investigations and identifying available options for consideration

  • To develop new cloud-native/web applications, including systems integration using a variety of technologies including JavaScript, Azure Functions, SQL, SSIS, Azure Logic Apps, HTML, XHTML & CSS, JSON, XML, jQuery, SharePoint, Web APIs and frameworks, e.g., Angular, React

  • Resolves web application issues by advising users of application systems' functionality and constraints, by the resolution of incidents, or by the definition of required enhancements to the web systems, liaising with third parties or web application providers to resolve incidents and changes

  • Develops, configures, tests and implements web software including but not limited to system interfaces, bespoke enhancements to package systems and ad hoc reports considering target environment, performance requirements and existing systems

Candidate Description

The successful applicant will have Principal Leader experience in full lifecycle, agile/waterfall development of new cloud-native/web applications, including systems integration using a variety of technologies using JavaScript, Azure Functions, SQL, SSIS, Azure Logic Apps, HTML, XHTML & CSS, JSON, XML, jQuery, SharePoint, Web API's

  • Experience in leading a development team

  • Knowledge and experience of working on complex cloud-native systems including user stories, design architecture, development, integration, testing and implementation

  • Ability to navigate Azure platforms

  • Practical experience with RDBMS in particular MS SQL Server
