Morgan Hunt are working with a Regulatory Body who are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to join their team on a 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract., Some of your duties and responsibilities as a Management Accountant will include:

  • Lead on the accurate and timely production of the financial information including monthly management accounts with relevant variance analysis and appropriate commentary.

  • Oversee the production of monthly accruals, prepayments, deferred income and other accounting journals into the accounting system.

  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles playing a key role in maintaining working papers and supporting documentation.

  • Provide business partnering support across the business, working with budget holders to make sure that their performance against budget is understood.

  • Identify business trends, variations in performance and expense control whilst making sure they are subject to robust challenge and analysis whilst highlighting any areas for improvement.

  • Drive forward the development of financial reporting whilst making sure that they are relevant, insightful and aid decision making.

  • Support the finance leads in the development and delivery of long-term financial plans.

  • Proactively manage the administration of the Prophix system, making sure that users are adequately trained to use the system and continually drive reporting development and system improvement.

  • Develop and maintain a structured training for non-financial employees in the operation of financial systems.

  • Support the development and maintenance of financial systems and procedures in accordance of best accounting practices.

  • Prepare information to support the delivery of the annual financial statements and liaise with internal and external auditors on queries and issues relating to the management accounts.

  • Develop and maintain a framework for accurately tracking spend on projects and programmes of work, making sure that costs are in line with approved amounts and provide information to assist in the tracking of benefits realisation.

  • Apply the relevant management systems, procedures and policies relating to risk management, health and safety, information security and business continuity.

  • Apply and manage the relevant diversity and equality policy and practice relevant to the role.

Candidate Description

  • Part-qualified and actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar environment (essential)

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and working knowledge of computerised financial software (essential)

  • Hold a significant level of technical experience across all financial disciplines, with a good understanding of statutory requirements (essential)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate complex numerical information effectively (essential)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a wide range of stakeholders combined with an appreciation of the importance of confidentiality (essential)

  • High attention to detail (essential)

  • Ability to work to deadlines and deal with changing priorities as well as executing tasks in a high-pressure environment (essential)

  • Work on own initiative with minimal supervision and as a member of a small team (essential)
