You role:
To provide 24 hours/ 365 day cover as part of the J2 Control Room Shift Team. Monitor react to and
investigate all incident desk alarms. To provide initial assessment whether emergency services be called.
Accountabilities:
To assist the Shift Leader (i.e. the Shift Technician)

To monitor and respond to alarms (e.g. plant, RPI, fire, flammable gas, oxygen and SF6 etc)

To provide Advanced First Aid cover

To undertake pre-operational tasks (e.g. search and lockup of operational areas, declaration operational areas free of personnel, diagnostic start up etc)

To undertake post-operational tasks (e.g. ensuring safe access conditions for access to operational areas, radiological
and atmosphere surveys, diagnostic shutdown etc)

To use the DOSAC system to authorise entry to ALNOR controlled areas.
To undertake tasks to ensure the safe working environment (e.g. periodic tours, inspections etc)

To issue Hot Work Permits

To act as Local Incident Controller (LIC) and lead rescue coordinator

To carry out Requests for Action outside of normal working hours.

To deliver familiarisation training.


You'll need:

HNC, BTEC ONC, City & Guilds level 2/3, NVQ 2/3 or equivalent qualification in a mechanical or
engineering discipline would be preferred.

Candidates should ideally come from an engineering background with preferably several years' experience in a Hi-Tech
or process engineering environment.

A good understanding of safety procedures and why they are required. Knowledge of JET safety systems would be
beneficial.

Able to work on own initiative or with others on tasks with minimum supervision.

Possess effective leadership qualities.

Good problem-solving abilities and be able to cope under pressure.

Good communication skills both verbal and written
