Cognizant's Global Privacy Team seeks to recruit a Privacy Counsel, to support the continued growth of Cognizant's global operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced privacy lawyer to help drive the development, management, and implementation of the company's privacy global program in collaboration with internal stakeholders.,

  • This role will support the coordination and execution of priority global privacy projects supporting the company's privacy compliance program. In particular, the role will include:

  • Coordination with regional counsels to drive multi-jurisdictional assessments to support our global privacy compliance activities.

  • Supporting efforts to develop and implement global standards and good practices in compliance with existing and new privacy laws and regulations.

  • Coordinating implementation and maintenance of global program materials including contract templates, guidance notes and privacy training.

  • Advising on global program related efforts and serving as a subject matter expert with respect to program development, global policies and processes.

  • Management of key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with the global privacy program's requirements.

Candidate Description

The candidate will ideally be a qualified lawyer with at least 6 years post-qualification experience in private practice or as in-house counsel, although candidates at all levels of experience with demonstrable ability to fulfil the role will of course be considered. Extensive data privacy knowledge and experience is essential both in terms of statutory/regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, PIPL etc.), along with a commercial perspective and interest in technology. CIPP/CIPM certification (or equivalent) would be desirable but is not essential.,

  • Law Degree or equivalent

  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing; other language skills are desirable.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of our organisation.

  • Commercial mind-set and ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Self-starter and able to work independently.

  • Experience operating within an international environment with a diversity of cultures.

  • Strong analytical problem solving and project management skills.
