Job Description
DLG's growth is supported by our Risk function which develops, implements and maintains risk management policies, procedures, tools, and framework for us. Reporting into our Head of Financial and Insurance Risk, we're recruiting for a Financial Risk Manager to support the Financial Risk team on a 12 month fixed term basis, to cover a maternity leave. The role will be home-based.
The Role
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Financial Risk function to achieve its goals and to build effective Second Line of Defence oversight of financial risk, helping to sustain an embedded risk and compliance culture within DLG.
What you will be doing
Providing second line oversight of aspects of Financial Risk, providing a high level of support for the Head of Financial and Insurance Risk. This will include ensuring appropriate frameworks, systems and controls exist and providing "deep dive" review capability in specific Financial Risk areas
Preparing timely, accurate and reliable reports in line with Executive, Group and senior management requirements including Risk Management Committee and Board Risk Committee
Working with the business to define and produce stress test and scenarios
Developing effective working relationships with key stakeholders and the business to ensure that financial risk management is embedded throughout the organisation
Providing input to business strategies (such as new products, strategies, processes or systems) and to the annual forecasting process; to support the Head of Financial and Insurance Risk by providing oversight, challenge, intervention and analysis as required
Providing support to the Head of Financial and Insurance Risk, delegating when necessary at Committees
Playing a significant role in the development of risk appetite framework, statements, tolerances and limits for insurance risk, ensuring that risk exposures are monitored
Helping to develop a team capable of delivering Risk Strategy and Vision, developing team members towards their full potential in line with the division's goals
Candidate Description
Knowledge in some (but not necessarily all) of the key financial risk areas: pricing risk, reserving risk, capital management, climate change risk, stress testing, and PRA regulatory expectations
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - with the ability to manage stakeholders of all levels of seniority
Previous Risk Management experience working within a similar environment
Actuarial experience essential
